Pastor
Profile
Pastor David Schunk
David began serving as Pastor of the Vineyard in 1989. He received his Bachelor
of Science Degree in Business from Indiana University, and his Master’s Degree
in Theology from Christian Life School of Theology.
While attending Indiana University, David married his High School sweetheart,
Lisa, in 1977. Despite having grown up in church, David didn’t realize that it
was possible to have a personal relationship with Christ. Through his wife,
Lisa, and some newfound friends, David invited Christ into his life in July of
1978, just before his senior year at IU. A few months later, he began to sense
God speaking to his heart about pursuing ministry as a vocation.
Upon graduating from IU, David and Lisa moved to Ft. Wayne, IN where they
pursued their calling to ministry. During their time in Ft. Wayne, they were
blessed with the addition of their two oldest children: David and Susie.
After seven years away, God called David and Lisa back to Bloomington, to join
the staff of what would soon become Vineyard Christian Fellowship. After this
move their youngest child John was born. Then in 1989, David answered the call
to become Pastor of what is now the Vineyard Community Church of Bloomington.
David has worn several ‘hats’ over the years, but his favorite title was given
to him by one of the children at the church: “some guy named Dave.”
David and Lisa have a heart for reaching unchurched people and helping them to
enter into relationship with Jesus Christ and begin to live in His freedom.
"I believe that the grace and mercy of God will soften the hardest heart, heal
the deepest wound, and enable people who are trapped in bondage to walk in
freedom. I invite you to come and experience the grace and mercy of a loving,
personal God."
